YPA and ADM Hold Joint Meeting at Kelsey DMS

An update from today’s YPA/ADM joint meeting at Kelsey DMS09 in Orlando…..

YPA and ADM hosted an informational meeting for over 70 attendees at the Kelsey Conference to update members about the potential association merger and ongoing YPA initiatives.

Addressing the group, Neg Norton, president of YPA, explained that the associations are close to finalizing a merger and, following a vote of approval from respective members, ADM will become the National Marketing Division (NMD) of YPA. NMD will continue to advocate for the national channel, as ADM does today.

The NMD will be funded through member dues, which will be separate from YPA dues. (ADM members’ 2009 dues will continue to support ADM activities through year-end 2009.)

On an important note, Nancy Augustine pointed out that dues for the NMD will be 20 to 50 percent lower than current 2009 ADM dues. And all YPA members are invited to be NMD members.

An Advisory Council (drawn from the CMR community) will oversee the Division. The Council will nominate CMR candidates for four YPA Board seats, providing a greater voice for CMRs.

The timeline for next steps:

  • Mid-October 2009: ADM and YPA Boards vote on merger agreement and bylaws.
  • November 2009: ADM and YPA members vote on merger.
  • January 2010: Merger implemented.

Kathy Roush (Vice President of Operations), Larry Small (Director of Research) and Amy Healy (Director of Public Policy) provided updates on recent and ongoing YPA initiatives that benefit members and the industry-at-large.
