As smartphone ownership has grown so has time spent on these devices. Mobile usage is expected, for the first time ever, to surpass TV in 2019 according to Zenith and eMarketer forecasts.
According to a recent comScore-PlaceIQ presentation, “Unlocking the Power of Location Data for Publishers,” 66% of US digital media time was spent on a smartphone in April. That was split between mobile apps (59%) and the web (7%). Additional media time was spent on desktop computers (26%) and tablets (8%).
As mobile devices have become primary for consumers, location data has become a focal point for marketers. Accordingly, marketers should focus on so-called “mobile moments” with fast-loading mobile-friendly content, utilizing location intelligence and investing in mobile search and display advertising.
