Study: 70% Stream Video Via Connected Devices at Least Once a Day

Video consumption has continued to rise steadily over the last few years. Nearly half of consumers admit to watching online videos daily. And as digital publishers increasingly offer video capabilities and distribution opportunities, there’s no shortage of options for when and where consumers can watch online video.

A recent study from IAB, “Live Video Streaming — A Global Perspective,” revealed that 70% of consumers stream video via connected devices at least once a day and 67% have live-streamed video. Roughly half (47%) of respondents said they have increased their live streaming since last year and smartphones are the most popular device from which to live stream video content, with 62% of consumers utilizing them.

The report went on to say that nearly two-thirds of respondents globally have engaged with an ad seen while live streaming video. As live-streaming, ad-enabled video content is increasingly more available, unique video advertising options are now available to marketers.

This data comes from an IAB study, “Live Video Streaming — A Global Persepctive,” n=4,200 live-video users. To access the graphic above, click here.
