Report: 70 Predictions for 2019 from Local Marketing Experts
January 18, 2019 | Contributed by: Greg Sterling
Predictions, what are they good for? For one thing, they’re an interesting way to peer into the collective mind of the industry at a moment in time.
What are people seeing or thinking will matter? What strategies and tactics are top-of-mind? Predictions both reflect reality and, as perceptions of the immediate future, help shape it.
This is LSA’s third year of compiling predictions (2017, 2018, 2019) about the local marketing ecosystem. This year we received more than 70 predictions on a wide array of topics from a diverse group of companies. A partial list of contributors includes:
Some of the predictions in the document are quite specific and elaborate, while some are much more conceptual and general. There’s lots of discussion about GMB, mobile, voice and AI but only one mention of AR/VR interestingly. What’s missing is as interesting as what’s there.
Editing has been very light. We’ve grouped the submissions into 10 broad categories to make the document easier to review:
- Google My Business
- Local & Mobile Search
- Local & Small Business
- Social & Reviews
- Ads & Paid Search
- E-commerce & Retail
- Data & Location Intelligence
- Speech & Voice Search
- Personal Data & Privacy
- Digital Strategy
Download the 2019 report and give us your feedback. Which predictions make the most sense to you, which ones do you disagree with? And if you didn’t get a chance to submit your own predictions and you’d like to write a blog post about what you think is critical or will have a significant impact in 2019 – 2020, let us know.
You’ll also find that most of these topics will be covered at LSA19, February 25 – 27 in Dana Point, California.
