Study: 42% Smartphone Voice Tech Users to Buy Smart Speaker


For marketers, one of the biggest questions is just how much voice search will impact local marketing in 2018. From smartphone voice searches, to virtual assistants and smart speakers, voice usage is on the rise.

A new study finds that 42% of smartphone voice tech users intend to buy smart speakers. Only 15% of non-voice tech users intend to purchase a smart speaker. What this means is smartphone voice tech often precedes use of smart speakers and other voice technologies.

As voice search usage on smartphones increases and the experience improves, expect consumers to adopt other devices that enable voice search. There’s an obvious implication for local search and many local SEO experts are embracing schema markup and other tactics to optimize for voice searches.
